Traders Bet 60% Odds Anthropic’s Claude Mythos Drops Today as Rumors Hit Fever Pitch

As of Tuesday morning, Polymarket‘s “Claude Mythos released on…?” contract shows a 60% probability that the model becomes publicly available on or before June 9. The June 10 outcome carries a 19% probability, and traders give an 11% chance the model is not released by June 30. Total trading volume across the contract has reached $42,212.

A separate, broader Polymarket market tracking cumulative release odds tells a steeper story. Traders assign an 81% probability of a public release by June 10, rising to 86% by June 12, 89% by June 15, and 90% by June 30. The July 31 contract commands the highest confidence at 92%. That market has accumulated $1,578,682 in total volume.

On Kalshi, the picture is more cautious. The “Before July 1, 2026” contract sits at 43% implied probability, reflecting a recent 30% confidence drop that traders are attributing to circulating speculation that Anthropic may release the model under a different name, possibly “Claude Fable,” rather than the Mythos branding.

The broader “Before October 1” contract holds at 73%. Kalshi’s total volume for this event has reached $607,723. Just over $2.2 million in prediction market volume is riding on the Claude Mythos release timeline between all three contracts.

What Is Claude Mythos?

Claude Mythos Preview is Anthropic’s highest-capability frontier model, announced April 7, 2026, and placed above the Opus tier. Anthropic restricted it to roughly 50 vetted partners at launch, citing concerns about misuse, particularly around its cybersecurity capabilities.

The model can autonomously discover zero-day vulnerabilities in real-world software, develop working proof-of-concept exploits, and complete complex, multi-step offensive and defensive cyber tasks that prior models could not. Partners using it under Project Glasswing, Anthropic’s defensive cybersecurity initiative, reported finding more than 10,000 high- or critical-severity vulnerabilities across critical software and open-source projects between April and May.

A June 8 Axios report added a sharper data point: Mythos Preview can turn a newly disclosed vulnerability into a working exploit in approximately 31 minutes, a process that previously took security researchers weeks.

The Rumors Driving the Bets

Credible tech journalist Alex Heath and others reporting on X are pointing to an imminent wider rollout, possibly today or tomorrow. Key claims circulating include that any public version will carry substantial safety guardrails that significantly restrict offensive cybersecurity use cases, and that the model may launch under a consumer-facing name like “Claude Fable” or as the first model in a Claude 5-class tier.

Those details have not been confirmed by Anthropic’s official channels. As of Tuesday morning, Anthropic‘s newsroom and @AnthropicAI on X show no release announcement. That hasn’t stopped the rumors from swirling.

What Anthropic Has Said

In a May 28 Reuters report, Anthropic indicated it planned to roll out Claude Mythos to all customers “in the coming weeks” while simultaneously launching the safer Claude Opus 4.8 as its general-purpose flagship. A May 22 Project Glasswing update stated the company expects to release Mythos-class models to the public “once we’ve developed the far stronger safeguards we need.” Anthropic also acknowledged that competitors would likely release comparably capable models within six to 12 months.

On June 1 and 2, Anthropic expanded Project Glasswing access to ENISA, the EU cybersecurity agency, and approximately 150 additional organizations across more than 15 countries, including operators in power, water, and healthcare infrastructure. That expansion was still vetted access, not a public rollout.

What to Watch
