World is widening access to AgentKit, its framework for tying AI agents to a verified World ID, in a bid to become the trust layer for the emerging agent economy.

World, the identity network co-founded by Sam Altman, Max Novendstern, and Alex Blania, is expanding access to AgentKit, its framework for connecting AI agents to a verified World ID.
The move, announced Wednesday, lets individuals delegate tasks to an agent that can prove a unique human is behind it as it acts across the internet.
The problem World is targeting is trust. As agents grow capable of shopping, making reservations, and navigating websites autonomously, businesses struggle to tell whether an agent represents a real person or an automated bot network. AgentKit answers that at the verification checkpoint, letting sites confirm an agent is acting on behalf of a verified human while the user keeps identity-based controls.
Getting started requires a verified World ID, the World App, and a supported agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Hermes, or OpenClaw. Users connect their proof of human through the ToolRouter interface, generate an API key, and link the agent. World first launched AgentKit in March alongside x402, the Coinbase-built payment standard that lets agents transact onchain without a human approving each step.
World demonstrated the system with a limited drop of 500 “Human in the Loop” hats, available only to verified holders. Agents used the search tool Exa to find the storefront, navigated Shopify, applied a discount, and completed the order, all capped at one hat per verified human. All 500 were claimed by buyers across the US, Germany, Japan, and the UK. Creating extra agents did not create extra eligibility.
The ambition is bigger than merchandise. World said that it wants AgentKit to become the accountability layer for an agent economy where software increasingly transacts on people’s behalf.
